I finally finished the first book in the series. It took me six weeks but I finished it. I also binged all of season 7 in the past two days 🙂

It took me a while as I was working for five weeks as part of an animation team but also, it’s a very long book. Nonetheless, I really did enjoy it. I had been meaning to read the books since last summer when I started getting into the series (I was very late with getting into it). I always said I wouldn’t like it, but I’m hooked.

Even though the book is a lot slower than the series, takes a little longer to read than to watch, it is so good. First thing I realised though, they did a brilliant job with actually getting everything that happens in the books into the series. And this is one of those rare occasions where I’m actually happy I watched the series first. As I was reading the books, I could link everything from the series to the books visually, I think I might have given up on the book otherwise.

With the book being written from different POV, I did form some favourites. I love reading Jon, Daenerys and Arya’s parts, but then they’re my favourites in the show too. I mean, Daenerys is fire.

The book is really descriptive, however, I think if I hadn’t seen the show first I would’ve struggled with understanding all the different people and things going in. There is so much going on all the time it gets a little confusing. It’s a lot to read and get through, you really need to take your time for it. But it is definitely worth it.

If it wasn’t for some books I need to review I would already be hooked on the second book. But I’m gonna pace myself, considering I was already having withdrawal symptoms after last night’s episode. I also don’t really want to read the last book before next season…
